Auburn football quarterback T.J. Finley was the first college football player to sign an NIL deal with Amazon — Clemson basketball player Brevin Galloway was the first player to sign with the distribution giant.

According to AL.com’s Tom Green, Finley’s deal will allow him to sell his custom merchandise– including clothing, tote bags, phone cases and pop sockets –on Amazon Fashion’s platform. It’s Finley’s second NIL deal after sponsoring PSD Underwear last July.

Some of Finley’s designs include a shirt that says “Nobody Cares, Work Harder” across the chest and another that says “Lineman: Because quarterbacks need heroes too.” Evidently, the line will be gridiron related.

As Green notes, all of the second-year Auburn Tigers’ custom merchandise will be available for shipment through the Amazon Prime platform.

The fact that the assumed backup Auburn football QB is the first CFB player to receive an NIL deal is wildly shocking. As one of the biggest companies in the world, you have to figure Amazon had their pick of the litter. Settling on someone who may be the third player on the depth chart at his position is an interesting direction to go in.

Then again, it may be about more than football. Finley is somewhat of a fashion icon on the Plains, donning some of the most eye-popping fits of anyone on the football team or elsewhere. Based on the first two shirt designs we’ve gotten a glimpse of, it’s clear that Finley is bringing plenty to the table for Amazon.

He also brought plenty to the table last year against Georgia State in Week 4 last season, but his fill-in stint following Bo Nix’s ankle injury soured many Auburn football fans on Finley’s prospects as the starter under Bryan Harsin and co.
