The ex-Bayern forward will wear the iconic shirt at the Camp Nou

Robert Lewandowski is Barcelona's new no.9. The forward was unveiled at the Spotify Camp Nou on Friday afternoon in front of almost 60,000 fans.

The Polish forward stepped onto the pitch at the Camp Nou for the first time as a Barcelona player, and he did so with the no.9 on his back.

He was expected to take the shirt number, but it does now mean that Memphis Depay has no number assigned to him, and it wasn't the Dutchmnan's decision.

"It was a club decision," Joan Laporta said, explaining the decision to give the shirt to Lewandowski.

"We made the decision in the club's interest, for the club's image and advertising. We believe it was an appropriate decision.

"We have respect for Memphis."

Memphis is one of the many players at Barcelona whose future is uncertain.

Xavi Hernandez has a lot of forward players working under his orders at the moment and there is more than enough competition in attack.

This will likely see Memphis' minutes limited, and that could see him depart.

Memphis has one more year on his Barcelona contract, though all parties are considering a mutual termination of his deal. That would allow the player to receive a signing-on fee at his next club.

?Juventus are keen, but the player is in no rush to decide his future.
