After a wait of almost three months, Chelsea supporters are in a position to buy their club's new shirts for the 2022/23 Premier League season after the Blues were able to start selling merchandise again.

The Chelsea megastore had been shut since March under the terms of UK government sanctions against outgoing owner Roman Abramovich over his alleged close ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Chelsea had operated under a special government licence until the sale of the club to a consortium led by American investor Todd Boehly and private equity firm Clearlake Capital went through at the end of May.

The £4.25 billion ($5.3 billion) sale was completed in the same week that the licence had been due for review. Rather than worrying about the future of their team, supporters can now look forward to donning newly designed shirts once they're released.

The first home shirt under the new owners of the club is anticipated to be an all-blue one with a white neckline carrying a turquoise lion design.

The club is expected to follow the trend of releasing the home kit first, followed by the away and third shirts in subsequent months.

Chlorine isn't a word you often associate with kit designs, but that's how Chelsea's rumoured new away shirt, created by Nike and mainly in white with four teal hoops around it, has been described. Chelsea's new third shirt is said to be based on a solid sesame colour with black-and-orange trim.

The neckline for the away shirt is expected to be hooped rather than coloured, while the club's purportedly planned third kit will feature a V-neck.
