The fantasy football saga heard ’round the baseball world has a new chapter.

During batting practice on Monday, a number of San Francisco Giants wore shirts that read, “Fantasy Football 101: Stashing players on the IR isn’t cheating,” an apparent dig at Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham for his accusations towards Giants outfielder Joc Pederson.

Pham, who brought the controversy into the public eye by slapping Pederson across the face on May 27, took to Twitter to express frustration with the shirts.

“They really played themselves bcuz now all I have to do is release the IR rules in the league and the text how I told Joc I was gonna pimp slap him for cheating,” Pham wrote, disputing the shirts’ logic.

Pederson, too, took exception with the attire; the shirts bore a facsimile of Pederson’s signature, which he had not approved.

“That’s kind of messed up,” Pederson told the San Francisco Chronicle Tuesday. “I don’t think that’s OK to just be sending stuff out like I’ve made it or I did something and have my autograph on it. I didn’t like that.”

And so the shirts — unlike the feud — are now ancient history.

“They ended up taking them all out of the lockers and throwing them out,” Pederson said. “So yeah, they’re not gonna work anymore. Guys thought they were funny and wore them out there, but you never know how someone’s going to take something. We’re just working on defusing a situation.”

The Giants and Reds are set to tango again next weekend, leaving the door ajar to additional brouhaha.
