OGDEN — Developers of a planned 725-unit housing development between Plain City and Farr West in unincorporated Weber County have received the green light to move forward.
Weber County commissioners on Tuesday approved the development agreement for the JDC Ranch proposal in a 2-1 vote. Commissioners initially took up the question on Dec. 13 but held off on acting after Commissioner Scott Jenkins voiced concerns about the mix of housing in the 242-acre site, now vacant and undeveloped. Per changes approved Tuesday, the development plans call for 100 townhomes, 200 attached patio homes and 425 detached single-family homes, according to Steven Burton, a planner in the Weber County Planning Division. The prior proposal called for 125 townhomes, 200 patio homes and 400 single-family homes at the site off the north side of 2600 North around 2875 West.
Jenkins, who voted no, had objected to the number of patio homes — 50 units divvied into four patio homes each — but that figure stayed the same in the revamped proposal.
Burton isn’t sure of the precise development timeline. “The development agreement gives them 15 years to complete the project,” he said.
A rep for developer Nilson Homes told officials last week that the project was to be built over a 10-plus year time span, with work to start next spring. The single-family homes are to be priced in the $1 million range.
